The plot revolves around a detective’s search for his missing daughter that reveals a link to a brilliant psychiatrist’s twisted treatment program, which forces his deranged patients to act out their dark fantasies on innocent victims. Åström wrote the music score for the film.

The Stand is an American dark fantasy/post-apocalypse streaming television miniseries, based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The plot centers on a pandemic resulting from a mishap at a military biological research station which allows the escape of a lethal strain of influenza. After the pandemic kills almost the entire world population, the few survivors are drawn to one of two figures, one dark and one light, setting up a final good-vs-evil confrontation. In the novel’s dedication to his wife, King describes it as a “tale of dark Christianity.” The adaptation alters the gender of some of the main characters, moves the setting to modern-day 21st century, and features a new final episode written by King, making it the third variation of the story’s conclusion.

Nate Walcott and Mike Mogis (of Bright Eyes) composed the original score and Åström wrote additional music for seven episodes of the series.

Åström has completed the music score for The American Terrorist, an upcoming feature film directed by Seemu Khan, starring Jordan Sanders and Ilar Parsa.

The film is a post 9/11 thriller/drama about a war veteran who gets roped into a spying operation on a local Muslim community, and is slated for release in 2025.
